This is a solid user Type 19 Stanley No. 5-1/2 Plane (1948-1961). The handle and knob are not rosewood, unlike earlier versions. A previous owner has cleaned it and there is some evidence of that. The Japanning is a solid 85-90%. It is absent any damage or repairs – just some patina and normal wear. The cutter/iron is nice and sharp and has a ton of life left at 7-9/16″ long. It will likely need sharpened or honed for use. Casting is extra heavy on the body.
just under 15″ long and weighs 6 pounds, 2 ounces
