This 19th Century Stanley No. 13 Lignum vitae square head mallet is in Good condition. There is some wear, as well as some minor chipping at the edge of one face. It is the earlier style produced from about 1880 to 1900 with the number stamp on the handle, rather than on the head. This earlier style also has a curvier handle than later types post 1900. It is the nicest No. 13 from this era we have ever seen. A previous owner has put a hang hole at the end of the handle. The handle is original and [I believe] made of hickory. It has a beautiful contrast of golden sapwood and chocolatey heartwood that Lignum vitae is so known for. A great addition to any hand-tool or Stanley Tools tool collection.
